Join Sawyer, Denholms historian and collector of Denholms memorabilia, as he shares stories and images of the stores expansion to High Street, the introduction of the Escal-Aires, reorganized and expanded departments, and retail as theater. Join him as we relive the 1960s glory days of Denholmsand the other great stores which populated an exciting downtown.

While Denholms was the leader of the Worcester downtown area and the grande dame of Main Street there were many stores featuring the latest in fashion and housewares. 1. Hello. I attended your lecture at WHM, and the next day went over to the building to look at the escalators. Then I checked out this blog- I didn't realize you were the person keeping up the Denholm building's window displays. I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate that. They are beautifully designed, and give a little elegance to a piece of town that badly needs it. Thank you!

    1. Maura, thank you so much for this kind note. I am so happy that you attended the presentation. I really appreciate the comment on the windows. They are a labor of love for me to do, and often I do not hear anyone's thoughts on them. Your note made me smile today!!!
      Best,
      Chris

    2. I always wondered who did it, and I thought you should know someone notices. :)

    3. I have been following your website for a while. I grew up in Worcester- Denholms was an amazing place. I used to visit with my grandmother on a weekly basis until I was six and went to school. I fondly remember the tree of lights, the amazing windows and everything around it. It was a beacon of style and class in Worcester. I remember the Santa that used to sit on the diamond across the street at Sharfmans and the Sleigh with gifts that was perched upon the Richard Healy Bronze awning. The escalors were narrow and I remember the old revolving doors.
I wish I could go back in time and see it again.

    4. Thank you so much for reading my blog! I love to hear these little stories from everyone as it helps to keep the memory alive. Denholms really was the beacon of class and style. A way of shopping that is virtually non existant in todays stores. It is just such a shame that all of the downtown stores are now gone...
Thanks again for sharing your Denholms memories!

  2. “When I was introduced to Mr. Lee Ben ( A Loan Officer), I was entering the market as a first time home buyer. My needs were a bit different and I had loads of questions, before he sent me my pre-approval letter, he called to speak with me about what it meant and what could change. He made himself available to me at pretty much any hour via email and texts, he was very responsive and knowledgeable. He’s also very straightforward, I explained to him what my expectations were in terms of closing time and other particulars. He said he would meet those expectations but he surpassed them. I closed so quickly my realtor and the seller of course were excited about that. But as a buyer I appreciated being walked through the process in a succinct yet thorough fashion. From pre-approval to closing- the journey was so seamless and I consider myself lucky because I’ve heard horror stories about the internet . I recommend A loan officer ben lee contact email: 247officedept@gmail.com & Whatsapp Number :+1-989-394-3740 to anyone looking for a loan in any market. Everything was handled electronically expediently and securely :)”
